Public Education and Outreach

An informed public is a great asset to the KWRC and we strive to provide people with accurate information on the challenges and issues facing the Kennebecasis Watershed.  Our Committee makes great efforts at getting people out onto the rivers so that they can gain an appreciation for their natural environment.  We provide educational opportunities, host volunteer events, and recreational workshops.  Some of our education opportunities are:

  • In class presentations
  • Site and field tours
  • Shoreline clean-up events
  • Tree planting days
  • Interpretive panels and signage and,
  • recreational opportunities

Our staff have been developing materials that will help educate youth on various aspects of watershed habitats.  This project will provide various classrooms in our watershed with "Boxes" full of habitat information including how to build bird boxes or bee boxes, a "how to" on monitoring river habitats and water quality, and a box on maintaining clean habitats.  If you are a teacher interested in this project please reach out to us and let us know.
